Nets

Located in the central reaches of the Upper Peninsula (the UP) of Michigan, just west of the famed Driggs River, in the village of Shingleton, Iverson Snowshoe Inc. has been producing wood and rawhide snowshoes for experienced outdoorsmen for over 90 years. They are a tradition in winter outside sports and work snowshoes. Indispensable for operating in snow bound climates, Iverson snowshoes are know throughout the north for their rugged durability and classic designs. They have also produced a unique landing net design to these same standards with a curved frame profile that makes one slap their head and say, “now why didn’t I think of that.” Built up in a proprietary design for Wanigas, these nets sport a black cherry hardwood frame coming down and over a curly hard maple handle inlaid with a Wanigas lapel pin. The maple is select AAA figured wood gathered locally in the forests along Lake Superior, where short cool summers and long frigid winters produce tight grain slow growth hardwoods. UP maple is so dense and durable it was the preferred wood for bowling pins before the plastic coated variety appeared. The handle end sports a solid brass eyed stanchion to which is attached a special ball-shaped rare earth magnet and leather clasp produced by Current River Concepts. The net is a deep pocket cotton mesh, suitable for fish of almost any size.
